Funny how kids complain about not being treated as adults…until they grow up and see how adults get treated…ah the disilusionment.

    Julia,

From someone who is a few years ahead of you. I must say that while the body may age the personality/soul will never.

Don’t try to physically change your body, it may slow the action down but it will remain the same. Don’t try to slow the personality down as we are who we are.

If you are now with grace and power then be who you are. You are you, same as I am who I am. The physical may change, though we do not.

Be at peace with you, the beauty that is you will never change unless you change the beauty that is in you.

Those who seek the beauty in you will always see it, those who do not will always miss it.

Be at peace, we will all be there at the end.

Sounds better in English because of the repetition of the word “growing”. In Spanish it would be “envejecer es obligatorio. Crecer es opcional”. Anyway, it’s true in any language. Keep posting more películas.

  4. Hello Dear Julia, Don´t need to say many words …
“growing up is optional” I agree with this, and i live my life that way …

    Nice Video Edit Julia !!!

Being a “grown up” is overrated…and also inconvenient

The bricolage approach and the pacing of the film are great, and the music is fantastic.

Today happens to be my 33rd birthday, so seeing “Grownups” today was fitting.

From a 1970 Paris Review interview with John Berryman telling of taking high tea with W.B. Yeats: “At one point he [Yeats] said, “I have reached the age when my daughter can beat me at croquet,” and I [Berryman] thought, Hurrah, he’s human!”

You always seem to have a way with selecting the right music for your work don’t you?

It’s either you have a good ear for the right song or have an army of minions running around New York scouring the airwaves for the right song, though I’d personally go for the first option myself.

As for the age debate, I find those who “act their age” are somehow forced to by social stereotypes of who they should be at a certain age. I tend to find people who don’t conform like Lemmings to every trend and whim society throws at them enjoy life more and don’t see age as any kind of issue or stumbling block to do whatever they feel they want to do in life.

My motto is; The only time Age is relevent is when the clerk asks your family how old you where when you died. Let the mind & body decide on everything else in life.

    Take care of yourself.

You may have outstanding physical beauty. You may have the sparkle of robust youth. You may be from a high and noble lineage. You may be a famed scholar. However, if you lack the virtues that spiritual discipline can only ensure, you will be reckoned only as a beautiful flower, with no fragrance. You must live in accordance with the prescriptions from the Scriptures and perform actions with the attitude that is needed to preserve the status you have gained as the highest soul amongst animals and living beings.-BABA

Your video made me smile. Especially the part of the dragons and the confetti floating upward. That was so cool. :)

It also made me think of this quote, “To thine own self be true.”

    Fantastic all around!

Another wonderful piece of work! Thanks for sharing, it is refreshing to see the joy and playfulness in the video. That is something you can look back on in twenty or so years and reflect on some wonderful times. I must agree with the Chili that one’s outlook is optional (have to get one of those T-shirts) negativity is the worst virus of all. Laughter may not always be the best medicine but it sure can’t hurt.

However, I am disappointed in the lack of surf footage (ha,ha).

You have a thing for Tom Waits don’t you? :)

    • Julia said

If by “thing” you mean respect his talent and appreciate his music, sure.

      • Allen said

hah. Ya pretty much meant that. I just remember from a couple soundtracks for films you are in that there are a few Tom Waits songs. Do you have input and request or do directors just think “You know what music goes good with Julia? Tom Waits.” And it does work. The restaurant cleaning/dancing scene in The Prince and Me was perfect.
Not that I’ve seen that flick. I’m all man and wouldn’t watch such girly things… Don’t judge me ;)

LOL. A quote from Chili Davis, haven’t heard this guys name in a long time. Chili is a cool name, so is Oil Can Boyd. Remember when the Mets knocked him around in the world series?

I must have watched this video ten times on youtube tonight. I LOVE the song and the video just spoke to me. Having just turned 31 and still having no idea what I want to be when I grow up, I’ve realized that age is truly just a number and does not define where, who, or what we should be at any particular point in our lives. Thanks for sharing such great music and an awesome video, Julia!

I’m forty-two and still don’t know what I want to be when I grow-up. Literally, I’ve been the butcher, the baker, just not the candlestick maker (yet) along with many others. I agree with you, age is just a number good luck on your journey through life. Also, agree that the music and video are good.
