I started a clothing line!
Despite what the Daily “News” would like to stir up, I am not dissing anyone in particular. I think a lot of celebrities mentioned in that article have the best intentions. If anything, I am poking fun at those who are totally out of touch with the rest of the world, and at myself- “Save the Last Shants?” Come on.
I had this moment where I thought, Oh gosh, Julia Stiles is one of _them_. I am glad you have not become a narcissistic idiot celebrity, and kudos on helping Africa. That’s seriously excellent.
Seriously amusing, nicely done by both you and the group.
[...] Video: Julia Stiles does eco-fashion. I cannot tell if this is a joke or not. After all, her blog says No, seriously …: [...]
I really wanted to get a “Save the last shants” shirt but the website said it was sold out! Boy, that was quick. So, in lieu of the shirt, I settled for a donation to The Lunch Box Fund. Worth every penny, too!
PS. BTW, LMAO! Brilliant!
“Common sense and a sense of humor are the same thing, moving at different speeds. A sense of humor is just common sense, dancing.” -William James
Nice, really enjoyed the video. Favorite concept was the Swifter Tie…really made me laugh out loud, I will have to try it out. Really enjoyed the website, even though it allowed me to procrastinate writing my thesis for a little bit longer. Best of Luck
Oh, Julia! Thanks a lot for this, can’t stop laughing! I’m a great fan of yours, I’ve looked up to you ever since I first “discovered” you in Save the Last Dance… (or shant?… haha!) Lots of love, Agostina, from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Well, this is hilarious, and I’m impressed you can do it with a straight face. Is the intention just to mock rich people/celebs trying to be green, or the idea of green for the poor, or to say helping the poor is much more important than the green movement, or to diss the green movement altogether, or some combination? Maybe it’s better being ambiguous, but just curious.
The Lunchbox fund seems like a great program.
Honestly, the vidz was super funny!
I like the creativity in it and the humour instilled quite obviously by your outfits’ models. Let us know when the outfits are sold.
Great job done, Julia! Keep it up! ^___^
Brilliant! Nicely put together. Will certainly infect my friends with this video and start a small viral over here in the UK.
Really glad I found your weblog. Really big fan of yours. Wish we had ladies like yourself in London.
???
I think I messed up the last one so…one more shot…
Great video. Being somewhat jaded myself, I truly loved it.
I’m liberal on most things but the environmental movement gets on my nerves.
If people want to inconvenience themselves, that’s all well and good but I resent anyone telling me that I should give up something.
As far as I can tell, this is just a movement to get us all to accept a lower standard of living by making us all feel guilty about one thing or another.
Is this an LA based comedy troupe?
http://www.thevacationeers.com
Thanks for the link. I had found my way to it through youtube.
There hasn’t been an influential comedy troupe out of LA since The Groundlings I think. NYC and Chicago hold the laurels for these sort of groups. Good luck to them in making their mark in LA.
Heh, well done!
Your smug little looks into the camera were perfect.
Especially the one where you put the sunglasses on. LOL! And those gold leaf earrings – very eco-chic!
Thanks for the laugh.
This was awesome! Thanks for making me laugh on a dreary Saturday morning.
I’m still laughing here…
If one day you travel to Brazil, you’ll understand me.
Excelent job, from you and the guys.
Keep on with the blog, I’ve been following the last 2 months but afraid to write something (terrible english of mine).
Abraços.
Good stuff Julia, I’m of the opinion that nothing beats satire to get a point across. After seeing it, it reminded me of a classic episode of a British Comedy show we had here in the UK called “Knowing Me, Knowing You…with Alan Partridge” starring Steve Coogan.
I Thought I’d share it with you, it’s an episode where Alan decides to beam the show live from Paris, and his guest is Yvonne Boyd, a fashion designer (ala Westwood), heres what unfolds…
Hope you enjoy it!
Is it an accident that the people you are accused of
picking on are all women?
The idea of women not getting along and all.
Maybe the Daily Snooze needs to find another way
to boost sales besides pandering to negative
stereotypes.
Hey Julia,
I wish I could keep a straight face just watching it, I can’t believe you’re in it and still able to do it. Talent and practice, I guess. That was really funny!
BTW, are you on Twitter at all??
Rahim
Not on Twitter, no.
I don’t like to judge people on how they donate their time and money..but it’s hard for me relate to a celeb that wants me to change the type of lightbulb that I buy, when I know that the cost of their single outfit could feed a school for a year in the Lunchbox Fund and/or build a water well in Africa that an entire village can use for half a century.
I’d like to see some celebs (especially those pushing their fashion lines)support Shoes That Fit.
An excellent organization that works with school teachers (in the poorest districts)and the clothing needs of children in their classrooms. Not just shoes but all clothing including winter coats and gloves.
It wasn’t until I became a foster parent that I realized so many children do not even own a pair of pajamas nor do they sleep with sheets on their beds. Although my son has a nice wardrobe I’m a firm believer in school uniforms. It’s an economic/status equalizer IMO.

I loved the parodies of some of your films in the fashion pieces. My favorite was the “10 Things I Love About You” shirt.
I really enjoyed it! Very clever. If we can’t laugh at ourselves then who can we? I can only imagine the laughs in coming up with some of the designs. I shared this with a colleague who worked in Johannesburg for 11 years, it made him smile.
Nice design on your lunch box by the way.
Hey Julia… Nice to see you are still around and are still keeping the sarcastic sense of humor. I enjoyed your take on “A Tie Thing” as well, finally a good use for the Swiffer.
Hope things are going well. I know you don’t care about popularity, but I enjoy the things you are doing, and I hope you continue to stay out in the spotlight.
Keep up the great work!
Hi-fracking-larious!
So funny I nearly sharted my shants!!!
I thought the clothing line video. Was pretty funny.
